Two rates, both building interest from day one:

• 2.8% AER (variable): paid into your account each month, and yours whatever happens
• 2.7% AER (fixed): your mortgage bonus, building for 12 months and unlocked when you complete a mortgage with Tembo
• Together, that comes to 5.5% AER.

When does my bonus start building?

From the day you apply for an account, rather than the day you first fund it. It builds only on money that's actually in your account, so it's worth funding it early. Anything paid in after your 12 months are up won't earn a bonus.

When will I be paid?

• Your bonus builds for 12 months, then stops growing
• Complete within those 12 months and we'll pay it shortly after your window closes
• Complete later and we'll pay it the following month, based on what built up in those first 12 months
• So there's nothing lost by completing on a mortgage early, it simply means waiting a little longer for the mortgage bonus to land.

Worth knowing: If you close your account before the 12 month bonus period ends, or before your mortgage bonus is paid into your account, you’ll forfeit the bonus.

Plans change, and that's fine. You'll keep your 2.8% AER and every penny earned. You just won't get the mortgage bonus. To note: If you close your account before the bonus is paid, you’ll lose the bonus, even if you go on to complete a mortgage through Tembo.

Yes! The money you place in your Tembo Cash ISA is held in a bank-level security account with our partner banks - Barclays, Bank of Scotland, Aldermore Bank, QNB Bank, Lloyds and Shawbrook Bank - which safeguards your funds.

All our trusted partner banks are covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS), which means if one were to fail, your money would be protected up to £120,000 per eligible person, per bank. So by partnering with more than one bank, we aim to diversify and help manage your risk.

Tembo is also authorised and regulated by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). As such, we abide by their strict governance and compliance rules, as well as being trusted by thousands of savers across the UK.

You can save £20,000 into ISA accounts every tax year. Your allowance applies to all your ISA accounts, so be sure not to go over the £20,000 if you're saving and investing with multiple providers.

From the start of the 2027/2028 tax year, the ISA rules are set to change. Your overall allowance across all ISAs will remain at £20,000, however under-65's will only be able to save £12,000 into a Cash ISA. The remaining £8,000 of your total £20,000 allowance must go into other types of ISAs, such as Stocks and Shares accounts.

It can take up to two working days for your money to reach your account, although it is usually faster than that.

No, the Tembo Cash ISA is not a flexible ISA. This means that while you can make unlimited withdrawals from your account, if you withdraw funds and deposit them into an ISA again (with us or another provider) at a later date, the ‘same’ money would be counted twice towards your annual £20,000 ISA limit.
